Review: The New Bottoming Book

September 4, 2016

Books, books, books.  I get asked often to review books and sometimes I say yes. Well this one has been on my list to read for quite sometime and I was happy to do this for an amazing little shop here in cowtown ( Calgary). Its hard to turn down doing an educational review for a company that encourages education.  I was really surprised with the outcome of this little review.

This product was provided to me by Little Shop of Pleasures for free, for an unbiased review.

The Size Matters:
It’s a BOOK! 173 pages

The Pro Side:
It’s a book
Its an educational tool
Has some great resources
Written easy to understand
Read it all or just the piece that encourages you

The Con Side:
None

My Personal Experience:  I love informative books. So I couldn’t wait to get into this one. The New Bottoming Book  is the second revision with great information packed into a short and well laid out read. That being the case I have to point out a section that held particular interest to me as I have not seen it written about anywhere before.

This section starts on page 153 and is entitled S/M and Spirituality. This to me is one point few books touch on and I think it is one of the most important aspects to BDSM as a bottom. There are any number of reasons that a person is S/M practices.  The first and foremost is that the giver and receiver of pain are sexually excited by either or both acts.  Still beyond this, what does the receiver actually get? It becomes a very deep experience for most bottoms, finding peace and contentment within the confinement of bondage or the sting of the whip. For a brief moment an individual gets to let go of all control and transcend the mundane areas of everyday life stresses.

This transcendence is equivalent to the practices talked about in Tao and Tantric belief systems. Adhering to a balance  and sexual awakening to allow for emotional connections. I am absolutely thrilled that a BDSM related book has a fairly big chapter on this type of spiritual connectivity and awakening.

Beyond my favourite chapter The New Bottoming Book covers some other great areas of interest as well such as Connecting to find a Top, Safety, types of basic play, scenes and aftercare, public (kink public anyways) play,  responsibility and of course the difference between reality and fantasy. Plus a little bit more.

A submissive Experience:  I am not going to write on a submissive experience to reading this book but I have told more then a few that this is a great place to stat with in understanding who they are.

Miss Aayden's Final Note:  Not only is The New Bottoming Book a great resource but, It can easily be a leaping off point. I highly recommend that both Tops/Dom/mes read this book as well to understand the submissive take.

I was really impressed with how well this book is written and how easy it was read. This little jewel is packed with some amazing insight.
